Employment in East Lancashire has been boosted by a national loan scheme, which has helped create more jobs in the county than anywhere else in the UK.
Over 500 new positions have been created across Burnley, Pendle, Ribble Valley, Hyndburn and Rossendale since 2003 through The Michelin Development business loan scheme.
The loan fund is a subsidiary of tyre giant Michelin and has a presence in East Lancashire because of the company's former factory in Burnley.
Fifty loans worth more than £1.2million have been provided to help small firms in communities where Michelin has, or had, a production base.
Mike Cole, director of the Michelin Development business loan scheme, said: "Our philosophy is all about helping small businesses succeed, especially when this leads to the creation of long-term jobs . We are very proud to have passed the half century mark"
