Government Loan Package Could Save Small UK Businesses

The Government’s £4 billion loans package for the British banking sector could save small businesses, an industry expert has claimed.

According to Graham Goss, vice chairman of the Northamptonshire Federation of Small Businesses, the £4 billion injection into UK banks could end up saving jobs in small businesses across Northamptonshire.

He said he welcomed the rescue package, recently announced by Chancellor Alistair Darling, as the current economic climate has made it tougher for small businesses to access funds .

"If you want to lend some money for a small acquisition then where do you go because the banks are just shutting up shop," he commented.

Mr Gross explained that the loan could make conditions a lot easier for companies with modest staff numbers and that many companies could be saved from the brink of collapse.
