Companies in Birmingham could find themselves targeted more directly by a financial services provider following confirmation of a new appointment on the commercial side.
Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank has just announced that David Sheldon, former property finance specialist at the Anglo Irish Bank, will be taking up the position of senior manager at its West Midlands business centre.
And one of the areas that Mr Sheldon is expected to particularly focus upon during his tenure is boosting the number of local clients.
Potentially then, it could mean that an increasing number of Birmingham firms are made aware of the potential financing advantages of competitively-priced business loans.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr Sheldon said: "I chose to join Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank because of its customer focus and competitive, alternative approach and I look forward to playing my part in helping businesses in Birmingham to prosper."
As many company bosses may already be aware, the Bank of England recently hiked interest rates to 5.5 per cent - their highest level for six years.
The move means that many firms with variable-rate business loans will find their monthly interest repayments rising.
