Business loan customers may be interested to know that financial services provider Bank of Scotland has received recognition for its activities in the sector.

The banking institution picked up the title of Best Overall Business Bank at an awards ceremony organised by independent financing website Moneyfacts.co.uk.

Runner-up in the category was rival financial services provider Alliance & Leicester Commercial Banking, which was highly recommended by the judges, while Barclays also received commendation.

Lee Tillcock, editor of the business division of Moneyfacts.co.uk, explained the purpose of the ceremony.

"The awards are a fabulous opportunity to recognise and award continued commitment to banking and finance for SMEs [small to medium-sized enterprises]," he said.

He added that all of the winners had offered "consistently competitive, flexible and dynamic products" during the course of the last 12 months.

Bank of Scotland is part of the HBOS group, along with Yorkshire-based banking group Halifax.

It offers a range of business banking solutions, including financing advisory services, insurance, overdraft facilities and business loans, which may be of interest to small companies looking to reassess their present financing arrangements.
