Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank has extended its free business banking offer for new enterprises.
This follows after research by the bank found that free business banking is regarded as the most important account feature when new business owners choose a business banking account.
More than a third of those starting a new business put this feature above the quality of advice, location of branches, credit interest and telephone and internet banking access.
This research marks the launch of the bank's enhanced Business Builder Account, of which the free banking offer has been extended by six months to offer two years of free business banking.
"When starting out, businesses can ill afford unnecessary costs," says Steve Jennings, director of business banking, at Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank.
The fact that the business banking market is becoming increasingly competitive is good news for business owners, according to Mr Jennings.
"I would encourage SMEs as well as established businesses to shop around and ensure that they have the best account for their individual business needs," he concludes.
Once the bank's initial fee-free business banking period comes to an end, business banking customers will be automatically transferred to the Free Business Current Account, Alliance & Leicester Commercial Bank says.
